Day 9, July 25th. We left Fairbanks at around 4pm after washing the bikes, visiting the HD shop and getting some minor repairs done to Buds bike and Terry's, total cost $25. We have a 5 hr ride to Anchorage but weather sucked and we only got to Cantwell due to rain, high altitude and freezing cold temps that had you seeing your breath. Back
Leaving Fairbanks and the view is great the weather is fair.
We reached the Denali National Park where Mt. McKinley is located. It is the tallest Mt. in North America.
The next several pics are of the scenery as we travel through the park.
This is the the village of Denali in the park. There is lots to do as you can see the sign and looks like a new tourist spot as the hotels all look new. A very busy place.
Well this is as far as we go today. Cantwell. You can see how low the clouds are and the ground is wet. We are at the summit. The temps were low and we had enough.
This would be our motel for the night. Looks OK from the outside. Should be OK on the inside.
Parking for the bikes.
Nice wide hallway, very roomy. Not sure what the crates were for.
Ahhhhhh. A room fit for a king. Gerry seems happy.
Yes you even get a community bathroom.
The showers. Actually this one was being fixed but its not far off from the ones that were working. No odometer reading today. |
